                            THE RED BEANBAG.
                                “The simple pleasure parlor”

Walking in to the warm filled café, the wonderful stuff of   The Red Beanbag who where casually dressed in addition to their red aprons round their waists were warmly welcoming.
With 70’s and 80’s band music playing, one defiantly gets an immediate sense of warmth and homely feel.
Brown wood color and black seem to be the theme of the restaurant. a cemented floor, strings of light bulbs in different sizes hanging from the ceiling, “sailor” glass water bottles filled with water on each table and brown bean bags printed with inspirational words like; freedom, love, play, passion and truth hanging right above the kitchen wall.
An open window kitchen, one can hear the kitchen cutlery sounds as the chefs prepare different dishes. One could point out, if one desired to talk to the chefs directly it was possible due to their direct position to the dinning.
An Australian inspired décor, this contemporary texture of the café; polishes The Red Beanbag incredible uniqueness.

The Red Beanbag is six months old and co-owned by Mr.Akiong lee that was very welcoming and slowly inspected the kitchen and customers, very casually dressed in a black t-shirt and shorts.
I for one did not notice that he was the boss and his sister Ms.Ipeng lee with her big smile warmly gracing everyone in the café, with her youthful casual chic sense and services.
The two siblings who once lived in Australia and came up with the idea of The Red Beanbag café.
The two shared an apartment back in Australia and the name ‘Red Beanbag’ came from an actual bean bag they had in their apartment and hence decided to name the spot “red beanbag” in order to maintain a cool independent, homely and personalized environment, Mr.Akiong lee and his sister incorporated the Australian decent quality of food, décor and concept in to their café which is more of the modern day café.
One of the first things that you will notice when you walk in to the red bean bag is the restaurant's friendly, knowledgeable staff. With a detailed understanding of every item on the menu, they are always willing to make recommendations.
What I found interesting most was there cardboard menu printed with the most humorous catchy phrases to their mouth-watering dishes aside and drinks.
Drinks from there Red Mean Machine known to be the soul of the café with their famous coffee variety imported from Western Australia to the other drinks milky ice teas and yourgahts.
On the food menu where Phrases like; “it aint heavy, it’s my brekkie” their breakfast that is served all day from 10:00am-3:00pm. Hence any one at any time of the day can walk in and have what is believed to be the most important meal of the day.
“Dough and not your usual suspects” there main dishes that are Served from     12:00pm-10:00pm and finally there “there’s always room for.” there desserts.
The Red Beanbag food prices range from 10 RM- 40 RM and all meals are homemade especially there famously known pasta.
On the menu, I had the “chicken crossing” (19.90 RM) which is a homemade chicken burger patty with fried egg, tomatoes and cheese, in Australia they are famously known to be the Andrew’s burgers very heavy and feeling.
It is obvious according to the menu, however much you have taken in, “there’s always room for.” desserts. The day’s special was the home made cherry cheese cake (10 RM) that topped off the afternoon.
A warm sweetness, I could feast like any fly

The fact that it was my first time at The Red Beanbag, first impressions last so defiantly from their café setting; ambiance to their food and service, The Red Beanbag made every bite a delight

SHE'S DYING

She’s dying, and it just ain’t right,
She’s crying every night.
One couldn’t begin to explain the pain
Or even the love she felt for a nigga she thought was real,
So she gave into his needs when he said he wanted to see how she really feels.

She’s dying, a quiet death, but to the average eye, She’s in perfect health.
And it’s such a shame, traded a moment of pleasure
For a lifetime of pain all for a nigga and his games.
She’s dying, before she got a chance to live her life
Dying to be his girl dying to be his wife
Yet all he ever gave her was lonely nights
And a disease that would claim her life.

She’s dying a prisoner doing a life bid
Nine months pregnant passing death to her kids.
It’s crazy what life will take you through,
And it’s funny what love will make you do.
Like contract a disease from a nigga you were faithful to
And it turns out he never felt the same way for you.

She’s dying. Women like her are dying leaving their children crying.
And as she glance in the mirror before her is an empty reflection
Pondering on the fact that she should have used protection.

She’s dying. We are dying. No matter how it seems,
we share this thing, dope fiends, teens, even our African queens.
It’s time we wake up and see what sex really means.

She’s dying what more can I say
African American women are dying everyday.
And it’s a serious thing
Children are born with HIV in their bloodstreams.
So please, if you respect yourself, protect yourself, because We’re Dying. Keyana B. Ray

PRESENTATION 4.The Forgotten Group Member.

1. Identify the five group development stages (forming, storming, norming, performing, adjourning) in the case.

Forming:brief introductions and appointing the leader.
Professor Sandra divides the class into groups of five. Christine's group of five, she is immediately elected as Team Coordinator at the first group meeting and getting to know briefly about each other with the other four members (Diane, Janet, Steve, and Mike) to work as a team.

storming: sharing and exchanging of ideas and voicing of different opinions.
In this case, five different characters working as a team;Christine is devoted and hard-working,Diane was quiet but very intelligent,Mike was the clown,Steve was the business-like individual and Janet was the reliable one.

norming: appointing the team members to there responsibilities in order to hit the main goal.
In the case,i don't think they worked or communicated as a team, for instance mike's constant excuses and absence, the group does not work effectively and also may fail to complete the task on time.

performing: getting the workload done.
all the group members managed to finish up and get there tasks done except for one of there group mates(mike) who seemed not to take things seriously and handed in some handwritten notes which automatically shows less devotion to the team.

adjourning: the finale stage where the work is finalized and evaluation takes place.
christine as the team coordinator, took everyone of her member's efforts in to consideration so the general evaluation is in her hands, even for mike who was never at the meetings,it determines higher or lower scores for her team

2. Identify and describe the causes of conflicts in the case.

  •  the major one i think was the fact that mike was not as devoted to doing the work at hand as the rest of the group members.
  • they barely had daily meetings,in other words they rarely met as a whole group.
  • also i don't think Christine as the team coordinator set a boundary.because she seemed to shelter mike's constant excuses.

3. Suggest the approach to leadership best suitable for the case.

I think the approach to leadership best suitable for the case is Team management;the team leader or coordinator exhibiting high concern for both task and interpersonal relationships by emphasizing goal accomplishment while supporting people.

PRESENTATION 3.

1.What are the important limitations of McGregor's Theory X Theory Y?

Theory x

  • inherently lazy by nature.

due to there miner or no motivation, they desire to work as little as possible and dislike the work and will like to avoid it, if they can.

  • naturally Conservative.

Favoring traditional views and values and the tend to resist or oppose change.

  • self-centered and indifferent to organizational needs.

  • they lack ambition which may possibly led to irresponsibility and also lack creativity in solving organizational problems.

  • only motivated by their physiological and safety needs, and are indifferent to the needs of the organization they work for.

    Theory y

  • Higher levels of trust; between the employer and employee, they believe that most of the people are high performers in a proper work environment and this is because most of the people are creative and committed to meeting the needs of the organization they work for.

  • can be self-directed and creative at work if they are motivated properly.

  • willing to accept responsibility.

  • Work is as natural as play, provided the work environment is favorable. Work may act as a source of satisfaction or punishment.

  • believe in more freedom in order to  have the capacity to exercise imagination and creativity  for opportunity and career growth.

Therefore;given the same team and same work environment, a Theory Y team is likely to perform better and deliver better quality work product than Theory X simply because, People hate authority and in most cases rebel.

2.What are the important limitations Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs?

According to Maslow, human behavior is related to his needs. It is adjusted as per the nature of needs    to be satisfied. when one set of needs is satisfied, it ceases to be a motivating factor.therefore,it is essential to note that not all employees are governed by same set of needs. Different individuals may be driven by different needs at same point of time. It is always the most powerful unsatisfied need that motivates an individual. At the lowest level, there will be first set of needs which can be described as basic needs and are universal in character. This will be followed by other sets of needs.
